While the Code on Wages, 2019 (hereinafter referred to as “the Code”) received Presidential assent on August 08 2019 , the Government was yet to notify the effective date of the Code coming into force. Labour laws in India have traditionally been governed by multifarious and fragmented legislations, both at the central and state level.
