IP Deadline Postponed as the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademark Closes

The Government of India has on March 25, 2020, declared a national lockdown for a period of 21 days due to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. As a consequence, the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademark (CGPDTM) will remain closed for a period of 21 days with effect from March 25, 2020.

In a Public Notice issued by the Office of CGPDTM, it was clarified that, the deadlines prescribed under different IP Acts and Rules, with respect to completion of various acts, filing of any reply, filing of documents, payment of fees, etc., for all  IP applications filed with the offices will be extended up to the date of the next day on which the office will re-open.
